Holiday Free From Hunger started in 2015 as a free community dinner at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Breckenridge.  As demand increased, the program changed to delivery of bags filled with food for a Thanksgiving meal. The Summit Colorado Interfaith Council became the sponsoring organization in 2020. The number of needy families continued to grow and then the pandemic hit. The program shifted to the purchase grocery gift cards and giving the cards to needy families.

Over 25+ community partners provide the names of needy families. Our partners include FIRC, Smart Bellies, WIC, Health and Human Services, Summit County School District, Fr. Dyer Methodist Church, St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church. CASA, and many others. The families receive an envelope with the grocery gift card, a gratitude prayer, a list of food and mental health resources in the county, and a list of major donors.
